Talking Preps: Racially insensitive act ends season; NC rankings; Week 8 preview

A new Talking Preps airs Tuesday night (10.04) at 8 p.m. On tap:

In “Rapid Fire,” we discuss recruiting tips for parents; which NC team is the most surprising this season; how a high school team’s season was shut down after players were caught on film re-enacting a ‘slave auction;’ as well as more fights at N.C. games and what can be done about it.

Triad NC radio personality Desmond Johnson joins the show to discuss just how good East Forsyth is and whether it has a real chance at the 4A ring.

Hickory High star Dashawn Medley, fresh off a 300-yard game, takes on Greiner on “The Game Show,” and Chelsea sits down with Millbrook defensive star Jayden Ferguson.

Alex preview’s the state’s top games — Conley-Rose; Kinston-Kenan; Riverside-Hillside; Pinecrest-Lee County; Trinity-Eastern Randolph; Porter Ridge-Weddington; Lake Norman-Hickory Ridge; and West Henderson-Pisgah.

And Grice breaks down the Eastern and Western games of the week — Cardinal Gibbons at Leesville Road, and South Point at Kings Mountain.

Sam’s “Frontline Warrior” segment features a linemen each Tuesday. This week? Hough’s Victor Aguilera stops by.

We feature the N.C. players of the week, the Grices Gems: East Surry’s Folger Boaz, Millbrook’s Jayden Ferguson; Newton-Conover’s Ben Watson; Hickory’s Dashawn Medley; and Central Cabarrus’ Adriel Miller, who was also named Homecoming King. Miller stops by the show to chat.

Grice and Chris introduce four new Fresh Faces, the stars of tomorrow: Watauga’s William Curtis, North Davidson’s Xavion Hayes, Chase’s Jalen Rudisill and Pine Lake Prep’s Jack Smith.

Finally, we debut new statewide rankings (and there’s some changes), and Grice and Greiner face off in “Coach vs. Coach,” discussing which class is the toughest this season; should the NCHSAA mandate play clocks; and what’s the hardest call to officiate in high school.
