Talking Preps: Will NC salaries catch up to SC? Hollywood’s back and Mr. Football trims

A new Talking Preps NC airs Tuesday night, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. On tap:

Roundtable discussions include NC vs SC coaches salaries; which county has best football in the state; analytics in HS football; and how long should a HS coach get to succeed at a new stop.

We introduce the five N.C. players of the week, the “Grice’s Gems:” Tanner Ballou, Northwest Guilford; Sincere Baines, Jack Britt; Makhi Carr, Butler; Tripp Woody, Charlotte Christian; and Monroe’s Jordan Young.

Hollywood’s back. Former Mr. Football Daylan “Hollywood” Smothers joins the show to discuss going to Oklahoma and what he’s up to this season. He’ll face off with coach Greiner on The Game Show.

Chris has the latest NC statewide rankings; Chelsea sits down with West Lincoln kicker and homecoming queen Dee Dee Wallace; and Alex breaks down the NC games of the week. Grice has special breakdowns for Wake Forest-Rolesville and Ardrey Kell-Olympic.

We introduce four new “Fresh Faces” -- Ashe County’s Bryant Blevins; Metrolina Christian’s Layton Duke; Tarboro’s Kamerin McDowell; and Avery County’s Will Stanford -- and Sam features his lineman of the week or “Frontline Warrior:” Lake Norman’s Ethan Calloway.

Finally, Grice will trim down the Mr. Football list for the state player of the year to 12 and in “Coach vs. Coach,” Grice and Greiner face off on sideline conduct, best types of offense and which formation gives a defensive coordinator the most trouble.
