Talking Preps 10.25: It’s Rivalry Week and we’ve got your Week 11 preview

A new Talking Preps is on deck for Tuesday (10.25.22) at 8 p.m. On tap:

Olympic High’s Eliyt Naire joins the show to talk about his team’s 9-0 start and its first outright league title in 13 years -- plus to give the crew their comeuppance (except for Gary) about their picks last week. Everybody else picked against the Trojans.

Dale reveals his best Olympic teams of all time. Is 2022 on the list?

The crew will discuss Mooresville’s first league title in nine years, Cox Mill’s huge comeback over Hickory Ridge and whether or not AL Brown-Concord still has the rivalry magic it used to.

Gary sits down with Derrick and Myles Chambers, the son and grandson of the late civil rights activist Julius Chambers, whom the Charlotte high school is named after. Myles plays at Mallard Creek, Chambers’ arch rival and opponent this week.

Grice will breakdown the N.C. games of the week: Chambers-Mallard Creek and Butler-Independence, and we’ll hear from all four coaches.

Alex will talk about the other top 10 N.C. games: Clayton-Cleveland; Hillside-Southern Alamance; Hoggard-New Hanover; Millbrook-Wake Forest; Ravenscroft-North Raleigh Christian; Andrews-Murphy; Monroe-Forest Hills; Pine Lake-Community School; Shelby-Burns; and Tuscola-West Henderson.

The guru, Chris Hughes, will have the latest N.C. high school rankings.

Five new #GricesGems will be featured as N.C. players of the week: Chambers’ Keelan Flowe, Havelock’s Andrew Frazier, Mountain Island Charter’s Danijah McGowan-Rivers, Leesville Road’s DJ Scott and Providence Day’s Jadyn Davis.

We will feature four new #FreshFaces, the stars of tomorrow: Cox Mill’s Sam Cowher, Hickory Ridge’s Jalen Harris, Lake Norman’s Mozes Morris and Mallard Creek’s Michael Short.

Each week, we feature a N.C. lineman in our #FrontlineWarrior segment. This week? It’s West Charlotte’s Darion Rivers, an N.C. State commit.

Finally, in “Coach vs. Coach,” Grice and Greiner will argue NCHSAA regional championships at neutral sites; should the Panthers tank; and what should the Charlotte 49ers do now to build a consistent winner.
