Myers Park’s Teagan Reilly headlines the 2022 Charlotte Observer girls’ tennis team
Myers Park freshman Teagan Reilly is the Charlotte Observer girls’ player of the year after going 29-2 overall.
Reilly won the SoMeck 4A conference singles title, the 4A West Regional singles title and advanced to the 4A state singles semifinals in her first high school season for a Myers Park team that was also 4A state runner-up.
Myers Park’s Ed Flynn is the coach of the year, after guiding the Mustangs to a 19-1 record with their only loss coming in the 4A state championship match, a close 5-4 decision to Cary’s Green Hope High School.
Flynn has led the Myers Park girls’ tennis team to a 144-7 record during the past eight seasons with a 4A state title (2016) and five 4A state runner-up finishes.

FIRST TEAM SINGLES
Alexa Allison, Newton Conover: The Lenoir-Rhyne commit was the 2A Midwest singles’ champion, Catawba Valley 2A singles’ champion and player of the year. She was 20-1 in singles’ play with her only loss coming in the 2A state semifinals.
Kate Bruton, Salisbury: The Hornets’ senior was undefeated, including winning the 2A Midwest Regional title, until a loss in the 2A state singles quarterfinals.
Emma Carver, North Lincoln: The Knights’ sophomore went 23-3 in singles play, winning the Western Foothills’ Athletic 3A conference title. She was also 3A West Regional runner-up and made it to the 3A state quarterfinals. Carver was also 10-0 in doubles.
Luci Falls, Lake Norman Charter: The Knights’ freshman won the South Piedmont 3A conference singles’ title, the 3A West Regional singles’ championship and lost her only singles’ match this season in the 3A state semifinals. Falls was also 12-1 in doubles leading Lake Norman Charter to a 3A state runner-up finish.
Sophia Harris, Charlotte Christian: The two-time, all-state performer was 11-1 in singles’ play and 8-3 in doubles.
Isabella Hartung, Cannon School: The Cougars’ all-state junior was also CISAA player of the year.
Jeslyn Pratiknjo, Marvin Ridge: The Mavericks’ junior was Southern Carolinas’ conference player of the year going 13-3 in singles play as Marvin Ridge’s No. 1 player.
Teagan Reilly, Myers Park: The Mustangs’ freshman didn’t waste any time proving she is one’s of the state’s elite players winning the SoMeck4A conference championship, 4A West Regional champion title and advancing to the 4A state semifinals in her first high school season.
Anna Torstrick, Charlotte Country Day: The Buccaneers’ sophomore, the school’s No. 1 singles’ player, was 16-4 while leading Charlotte Country Day (16-1) to the NCISAA 4A state title.
FIRST TEAM DOUBLES
Meredyth Barr, Sr./Ella Baumgardner, Sr., Myers Park: The Mustangs’ duo was 24-2 in winning the SoMeck4A conference title, the 4A West Regional championship. The pair was also a state qualifier.
Emilee Ibsen, Fr./Avery Shaffer, Fr., Gaston Day: The Spartans’ freshmen were a perfect 17-0 in doubles play, leading Gaston Day to a NCISAA 2A state runner-up finish.
Sydney Ross, Sr./Ananya Sriram, Sr., Lake Norman Charter: The Knights’ doubles team won the SPC 3A conference title, the 3A West Regional crown, and made it to 3A state semifinals.
Cora Wymbs, Fr./Millie Wymbs, Jr., Salisbury: The sisters’ only loss came into the 2A state semifinals.
