Charlotte Catholic sprinter Molly Canon is The Charlotte Observer’s girls high school athlete of the week.
The Cougars’ junior ran a personal-best 1:18.04 to win the 500-meter run at the Winter Classic at Corvian Community Charter Jan. 18. Canon’s time qualified her for the 4A state indoor championships.
Canon also ran a personal-best 42.91 to finish as runner-up in the 300-meter dash at the same meet.
