Tuesday’s Girls Rewind: No. 3 Independence dumps No. 7 Charlotte Catholic
The Independence High girls, No. 3 in The Sweet 16, lived up to their ranking in a top 10 showdown with No. 7 Charlotte Catholic.
The Patriots held Catholic to two points in the fourth quarter, rallying for a 44-40 win.
Independence (17-2, 7-0 Southwestern 4A) has now beat second place Charlotte Catholic (14-5, 5-2) twice and has a clear path to the league title.
On Tuesday, sophomore Kam Kitchen led the Patriots with 19 points. No other Independence play had more than eight, but the Patriots defense limited top 10 national recruit Blanca Thomas to 10 points. Catholic’s Gracyn Gough had 16 to lead the Cougars.
