Tuesday’s girls HS Rewind: No. 1 Lake Norman gets a scare, stays unbeaten, eyes league crown

Lake Norman, No. 1 in The Charlotte Observer’s Sweet 16, got a bit of a scare Tuesday in Cabarrus County.

The Wildcats led Hickory Ridge by just four points with six minutes to play before senior guard Kirsten Lewis-Williams took the game over. Lewis-Williams finished with 25 points and Lake Norman won 62-47.

Lake Norman (21-0, 9-0 Greater Metro 4A) ended HIckory Ridge’s six-game win streak.

Hickory Ridge (15-4, 9-2) hadn’t lost since being beaten 90-45 at Lake Norman Jan. 4.

Lake Norman can clinch a share of the league title Friday at home against Cox Mill.

Kiki Anderson, East Lincoln: 19 points, five steals, three assists in a 71-27 win over Fred T. Foard.

Betsey Burnett, South Meck: 25 points on 73 percent shooting in a 74-63 win over Ardrey Kell.

Katelyn Ramsden, Providence Day: freshman had a career-high 11 points and five rebounds in a 71-31 win over Charlotte Christian.

Kate Sears, Watauga: 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists in a 52-39 upset of No. 12 Alexander Central.

Taylor Smith, Central Cabarrus: freshman had 26 points, five assists and five steals in a 67-60 win over East Rowan.
