Friday’s boys rewind: Postgame skirmish mars No. 2 Myers Park’s big win at No. 11 Olympic

Friday night, No. 2 Myers Park needed a big rally to win at No. 11 Olympic.

After the game, a small skirmish broke out between the two teams, who could meet again in next week’s SoMECK conference tournament.

Olympic (21-3, 9-3) lost for the second time this week after beating upset by Ardrey Kell Tuesday. That game Tuesday allowed Myers Park (20-4, 12-0) to win its first league title since 2008-09. Olympic and Ardrey Kell (14-10, 9-3) ended up tied for second.

Myers Park also secured its first 20-win regular-season since 2008 and its first undefeated conference record in school history.

But Friday’s game didn’t have the same importance it might’ve had. If Olympic had won on Tuesday, it could’ve won a share of the league title by beating Myers Park Friday.

As it was, the Trojans came out determined.

They led 17-11 after the first quarter and 33-23 at halftime. Myers Park closed to within one, 49-48, with a big third quarter, led by junior guard Bishop Boswell.

And in the fourth quarter, Myers Park overtook the Trojans for the win.

Olympic got 16 points from Demarco Reynolds and 14 from Kam Taylor. Myers Park got 19 from sophomore AJ White, 17 from senior Elijah Strong and 14 from Boswell.
