Talking Preps: Final 8 candidates for Mr. and Ms. Basketball announced

A new Talking Preps NC airs Monday at 8 p.m. as conference tournament play tips off for public school and state playoffs for private schools.

After a near fight in Charlotte and a brawl outside Greenville, we’ll discuss the effects this type of behavior is having on the game.

Gary, Rick and Randall reveal their picks for Charlotte private schools and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools conference players and coaches of the year.

Rick and Randall reveal the final eight boys and girls nominees for Mr. and Ms. Basketball, the North Carolina high school basketball players of the year. The award will be handed out next month.

The guys break down the top girls first round conference games and the girls NCISAA tournament bracket and give you a few games to watch.

Rick Lewis, the Guru, breaks down the boys conference tournaments and the private school state playoffs.

Randall features his Rockstars, the girls players of the week: Betsey Burnett, South Meck; Rayana Minard, West Cabarrus; Ella Chapel, Marvin Ridge; Amanda Sacoto, Cuthbertson; and Samantha Shehan of Lake Norman, who joins us in studio.

Rick’s “picks” for boys players of the week to be featured include Rashad McCormick, Hough; Caden Caskey, Ardrey Kell; Avion Pinner, Concord Academy; Clayton Gaither, Providence; and North Meck’s Isaiah Evans, who joins us in studio.

Rock Hill Northwestern star Mason Mitchell in on “5 Minutes With Sammy,” after a return from injury and a big season. Chelsea sits down with Porter RIdge star Kyler Harris, who is averaging 26 points per game this season.

Cannon School star Samyha Suffren joins to talk about the private school playoffs, her team’s dominance in the CISAA local conference and to take on Randall on “The Game Show”
