Lake Norman’s Kirsten Lewis-Williams, whose team plays in NCHSAA semis Saturday, is AOTW

On the eve of the biggest game, so far, of her high school career, Lake Norman’s Kirsten Lewis-Williams is The Charlotte Observer’s girls high school athlete of the week.

The 5-foot-10 senior posted the first triple-double of her high school career, scoring 30 points to go with 11 rebounds, 10 steals and seven assists in an 80-61 win over Mallard Creek in the second round of the 4A state playoffs Feb. 23.

Lewis-Williams also opened the 4A state playoffs with 27 points, nine rebounds, 10 assists and eight steals in a 79-36 win over Hough Feb. 21.

Lewis-Williams had 26 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in a 69-48, third round win over Independence.

Lewis-Williams is averaging 24 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals per game for a Lake Norman team that is undefeated at 29-0 this season.

On Saturday, she’ll lead Lake Norman (30-0) into the N.C. 4A Western Regional championship game. Lake Norman is ranked No. 1 in The Observer’s Sweet 16 and No. 25 nationally by MaxPreps. Charlotte Catholic (25-6), back in the regional final for the second straight season, is No. 7 in The Sweet 16.
