Mallard Creek’s Christian Dixon is Charlotte Observer boys high school athlete of the week.
The Mavericks’ sophomore ran a personal-best time of 21.16 to win the 200-meter dash at the Blue Ridge Classic at North Buncombe High April 21. The 200-meter time was also the top time run in the state this outdoor season.
Dixon also ran a personal-record 10.41 to win the 100-meter dash at the same meet.
Dixon also helped the 800-meter relay team to victory with Benjamin Black, Curtis Clark, Dixon and Jaidan Lee. The quartet combined to run the state’s all-time best time (1:24.55) at the Blue Ridge Classic.
Black, Dixon, Lee and Darren Morrison also teamed to win the 400-meter relay in 41.11, the fastest time run in the event this outdoor season.
