Pine Lake Prep’s Braelyn Iosue is The Observer’s high school athlete of the week.
This is the final award winner of the 2022-23 school year.
A freshman defender on the Pride girls soccer team, Iosue helped lead a defense that did not allow a goal in its first four playoff games this season.
Iosue led Pine Lake Prep to a 5-0 win against Forest Hills in the third round of the 2A state playoffs on May 22.
She also led the Pride to a 3-0 victory over Hendersonville in the 2A state quarterfinals on May 25.
The Pine Lake Prep defense allowed on 19 goals in 24 games this season. Pine Lake Prep lost 5-2 to Wheatmore in the N.C. 2A Western Regional final on May 30.
