Here are The Observer’s high school athletes of the week, as chosen by readers. Winners will receive a trophy from Deer Park Water, which sponsors the awards

GIRLS: Bradford Prep golfer Emily Rosenschein, a Bears’ senior, shot a 5-over-par 77 to finish in third (among 60 golfers) at the 1A/2A West Regional at Meadowbrook Golf Club in Rutherfordton on Oct. 23. Rosenchein had two birdies and nine pars in her round.

BOYS: Christ The King’s Blake Nicholson, a junior, won the NCHSAA 1A West Regional running a course and personal record 15:03.29 at Kituwah Mound in Bryson City on Oct. 28. Nicholson’s run also helped the Christ the King cross-country team to a fourth-place regional finish.

FOOTBALL, DEFENSIVE: Ardrey Kell’s Chancellor Bryant wins for the third time this season. Bryant had 11 tackles in a 28-3 win against Palisades. On offense, Bryant caught four passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns.

FOOTBALL, OFFENSIVE: Mountain Island Charter’s Jonavon Fisher caught one pass for 11 yards in a 27-21 win against Corvian Community School: the game-winner in overtime.
