Five new teams join NC basketball rankings this week. Find out what are the state’s best

Five new teams join N.C. statewide high school basketball polls from The Charlotte Observer and News & Observer of Raleigh.

There are no new girls’ teams this week and no new No. 1s, but there is some movement around each poll.

In the boys’ polls, there are five new teams: 21-7 Providence Day in private; 16-3 Greensboro Smith in 3A; 17-5 West Stokes and 18-2 Patton in 2A; and there’s one new team in 1A, 15-5 Newton-Conover.
