Corvian Charter basketball player R.J. Moore Jr. is The Charlotte Observer boys’ high school athlete of the week.
The 6-4 freshman scored 16 points, had three rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block in a 60-41 win over Langtree Charter in the opening round of the Catawba Shores 1A/2A conference tournament on Feb. 19.
Moore Jr. had 13 points, three rebounds and two assists in a 61-49 conference semifinal win over Community School of Davidson on Feb. 21.
Moore Jr. had 29 points to go with three rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 85-68 victory over Pine Lake Prep in the Catawba Shores’ 1A/2A tournament championship game on Feb. 23.
Moore Jr. is averaging 14.4 points and 5.4 rebounds this season.
