Charlotte Catholic’s scheduled high school football game with Northern Durham has been canceled.

Catholic athletic director Kevin Christmas said Northern Durham suffered several injuries in last week’s season-opener against Lee County.

Christmas said the game will be considered a no contest for now. He said Catholic would try to find a week 11 opponent to replace the game. He said if Catholic is unable to find an opponent, the game would be a forfeit win.

“We are disappointed,” Christmas said. “But we don’t want anyone to get hurt or risk their safety.”

Catholic’s next game will be against Providence Day Sept. 6
