TC Roberson at Sun Valley is The Charlotte Observer game of the week
The first Charlotte Observer high school football game of the week will be played in Union County.
After a reader’s vote, the media company will cover Friday’s TC Roberson at Sun Valley first round playoff matchup.
Observer writer Shane Connuck and photographer Khadejeh Nikouyeh will have complete coverage. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Sun Valley High School.
Note: The Observer will release another poll Saturday to determine next week’s game.
▪ Roberson, from Asheville, has lost three of its last four games. Junior quarterback Laron MIlls has thrown for 396 yards and two touchdowns. He’s rushed for 507 yards and four more scores. On defense, senior Cohen Bohanon has 133 tackles.
▪ Sun Valley has won six of its last seven games and joined The Observer’s Sweet 16 regional high school football poll this week.
The Spartans are led by junior QB Noah Lineberry, who has thrown for 2,125 yards and 25 touchdowns, and junior Brandon Creech, who has 108 tackles.
