West Cabarrus swimmer Vlad Roman is The Charlotte Observer’s high school athlete of the week.
Roman, a sophomore, won the 100 backstroke (57.63) and the 200 individual medley (2:06.96) at the Sunbelt Invitational at Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center on Dec. 3.
Roman also swam a season-best 27.69 cut to helped the 200 medley relay to a second-place finish at the same event.
