Daniyah Burton, Myajah Nix, Central Cabarrus girls: Burton had 20 points, 13 rebounds and Nix had 18 and 15 in a 71-59 win over West Stanly at the East Lincoln Winter Jam.
Aurek Fenn, Palisades: After Butler rallied from 21 points down in the fourth quarter to force overtime, Fenn made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to win for the Pumas. Fenn had 17 points in an 82-81 win.
Justyn Whitfield, Victory Christian: Whitfield had 32 points, five assists, four rebounds and a steal in a 63-43 win over East Mecklenburg at the Phenom Hoops’ New Year’s Bash.
Travien Williams, Hickory Ridge: In a 75-71 upset of Sweet 16 No. 16 Carolina International at the Phenom Hoops’ New Year’s Bash at Marvin Ridge, Wiliams had 13 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Cha Cho Womack, West Charlotte: In a 74-40 win over Piedmont, Womack had 20 points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals.

Thursday’s highlights: No. 1 Lake Norman rolls in Tennessee
Nick Arnold, Tre McKinnon and Trent Steinour got No. 1-ranked Lake Norman off to a big start Thursday at a major prep tournament in Tennessee.
The Wildcats (9-0), ranked No. 1 in The Observer’s Sweet 16 and among 4A schools in North Carolina, trounced Gray (TN) Daniel Boone 80-60 in the first round of the Classic at Bristol.
The tournament formerly was known as the Arby’s Classic.
A number of holiday tournaments began Thursday, with most events scheduled to begin Friday. Most Charlotte-area teams are competing either locally or in events across the Southeast.
Lake Norman raced to a 47-20 halftime lead and was never threatened. Arnold led the Wildcats with 18 points, McKinnon added 16, and Steinour scored 13.
The Wildcats will be back in action at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, with a second-round game against Milton (GA), which has a 7-1 record.

No. 9 Lincolnton 77, Stuart Cramer 47: The Wolves (8-1) led only 13-11 after one quarter but outscored the Storm 42-17 over the middle two periods. Sophomore L.J. Smith poured in 31 points for the victors.
