Charlotte Country Day’s Kobey Riley is The Observer’s high school athlete of the week.

Riley, an indoor track athlete, ran a personal and school-record 1:04.63 to finish third in the 500-meter dash at the Grant Holloway Holiday Invitational in Virginia Beach, VA, on Dec. 21. Riley’s time was the seventh fastest time run in the nation on an indoor track this season.

Riley ran another personal and school-record 34.95 to finish as runner-up in the 300-meter dash at the same event.
