Not much changed in this week’s N.C. statewide high school basketball rankings.

Two new teams joined the boys’ and girls’ polls, which are sponsored by The Charlotte Observer and the News & Observer of Raleigh.

Wake Prep Academy, from Wake Forest, is in at No. 10 in the 1A boys’ poll. The Guardians have won 13 straight games.

But outside of 1A, not much looks different. The NCISAA and NCHSAA 4A, 3A and 2A boys’ polls are almost the same as last week. There was minimal shuffling in the 4A and 3A public polls, but no new teams.

Ditto for the girls.

Apex Friendship joins the 4A poll. The Patriots (14-3) have won three straight games, led by senior Jasmine Nivar, who is averaging 25 points per game on 48 percent shooting. But elsewhere, there was not much change.

The rankings are compiled by longtime basketball experts Rick Lewis and Alex Bass, co-hosts of The Observer’s “Talking Preps” streaming show.
