Tuesday’s girls’ rewind: Jala Jones, Palisades High spoil Olympic’s Senior Night

Facing the possibility of a three-game losing streak Tuesday night on the road, Palisades High School needed a hero.

Junior Jala Jones decided it would be her.

Jones’ clutch free throws helped Palisades to defeat Olympic 46-42 in a 4A SoMeck showdown.

After being fouled with under a minute left in the game and down 42-41, Jones knocked two big free throws to give Palisades the lead.

On Palisades next possession, Jones was intentionally fouled and she sealed the game by making both free throws.

“They [Olympic’ student section] were like miss it, miss it,” Jones said after the game. “In my head, I said I was going to knock these down. I’m going to make them.”

Palisades (9-12, 4-6 SoMECK) beat rival Olympic on the Trojans’ Senior Night and avenged a 44-43 loss to Olympic on Jan. 7

Olympic fell to 8-13, 4-5.
