Three Corvian Community athletes win NCHSAA 1A/2A indoor track state championships

Three athletes from Charlotte’s Corvian Community won NCHSAA 1A/2A indoor track championships Friday in Winston-Salem.

Corvian Community’s Jayda Lewis won the N.C. 1A/2A indoor track championship in the girls 55 hurdles. Her time of 7.99 was clear of second-place D’Anna Cotton of Burlington’s Cummings High (8.14).

Corvian’s Carson Williams won the 1600 meters in 4:20.90, well ahead of Seaforth’s Will Ciucci (4:25.65).

Corvian’s Braelyn Waldeck won the girls’ 500 in 1:18.66.

Other area winners included:

Mountain Island Charter’s girls 800 relay (Ajuliah Washington, Harmoni Carter, Sydney Labenson, Olivia Patterson)

Christ the King’s 1600 relay (Katie Dulski, Shea Roche, Gabbie Feaster, Madeline Ford)

Cummings’ girls and Seaforth’s boys won the team titles. Christ the King’s girls were third. Union Academy finished eighth in the boys’ race.
