One of the biggest high school sports nights of the school year is all set.

Two of the three Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ conferences held basketball conference tournament semifinals Thursday, setting up Championship Friday.

All three CMS conferences — as well as many more in the Charlotte-area — will hold championships.

Get details below:

In the Southwestern 4A girls’ tournament at Charlotte Catholic, Butler will play Charlotte Catholic.

Butler, No. 6 in The Observer’s Sweet 16 poll, got 18 points from Brooklyn Saunders and 12 from Hannah Moss in a 53-42 win over Rocky River. Butler led 23-7 after the first quarter.

Catholic won its third straight game, beating Providence.

On the boys’ side, Independence will play arch rival Butler.

The Patriots held off an upset bid from Providence to advance, winning 60-55. Independence got 15 points from Nick Barnes and 13 from Ayden Davis.

Butler upset the co-regular season champs from Charlotte Catholic, 65-61, on Catholic’s home floor in the semifinals. Terrance Badio had 24 points for the Bulldogs. Catholic had beaten Butler twice in the regular-season — 75-54 and 52-50 — before Thursday’s meeting.

In the SoMECK 4A girls, South Meck will play Ardrey Kell at Myers Park.

South Mecklenburg beat Myers Park 53-47 behind 15 points and 10 rebounds from Chloe Grant. The Sabres won on Myers Park’s home court and avenged a 34-29 loss to the Mustangs last week. Myers Park had its four-game win streak snapped.

Ardrey Kell beat Olympic, 47-35, in its semifinal.

On the boys’ side, Myers Park will play rival South Mecklenburg for the third time this season.

Myers Park won for the sixth time in seven games, beating Olympic 68-58 in its semifinal Thursday.

South Mecklenburg advanced with a 74-59 win over Berry. Jim Gatehouse had 18 for the Sabres (16-10), who win to try to avenge a 64-51 loss at home to Myers Park on Valentine’s Day.

The Queen City 3A/4A held its semifinals Tuesday. The girls’ championship will feature top seeds North Meck and Mallard Creek. The boys’ final will matchup top seed North Meck against second-seeded Chambers. Those finals begin at 6 p.m. at Chambers.
