Independence High School’s Kaleb Jasper is The Observer’s high school boys’ athlete of the week.

Jasper, a 5-foot-11 senior on the Patriots’ basketball team, scored 25 points with two rebounds and three assists to lead Independence to a 48-44 win over Butler to clinch the Southwestern 4A conference regular season title on Feb. 14.

Jasper also scored 21 points to go with five rebounds, three assists and four steals in a 71-49 victory at Rocky River on Feb. 11.

Jasper is averaging 8.9 points, 4.6 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game for Independence (19-5).
