One of these boys’ and girls’ basketball players will be named NC player of the year

One boys’ high school basketball player and one girls’ player from the list below will be named the 2025 N.C. high school basketball player of the year.

The Charlotte Observer will name Mr. and Ms. Basketball next month, during the NCHSAA’s state championship week. The Observer has handed out the awards since the 1984-85 school year.

The finalists, and ultimate winners, will be selected by The Observer’s high school sports staff and the hosts of its streaming high school show, Talking Preps.
