Which teams made the latest NC statewide high school baseball rankings? Check our lists
There’s chaos in the first regular-season ranking of North Carolina’s high school basketball teams.
We’ve got 14 new teams and three new No. 1s in the five polls.
The rankings are sponsored by The Charlotte Observer and the News & Observer of Raleigh and are compiled by longtime N.C. high school sports expert Alex Bass, a co-host of The Observer’s “Talking Preps” streaming show.
▪ This week, there are three new teams in the 4A poll: Weddington (1-1), Holly Springs (2-1) and Charlotte Catholic (2-1).
▪ There’s a new No. 1 in 3A. East Lincoln (2-0) replaces Winterville’s South Central, which fell to No. 5. There are also two new teams: 2-0 Southern Lee and 2-1 Orange High, from Hillsborough.
▪ There’s a new No. 1 in the 2A poll as well. Burns (3-0) moves up one spot. Greene Central, the preseason No. 1, fell four spots to fifth. Three new teams join the rankings: 3-0 Bunn, 3-0 Martin County and 2-0 Nash Central.
▪ There’s also new No. 1 in 1A, where East Wake Academy (2-0) jumps up three spots from No. 4. Preseason No. 1 Uhwarrie Charter fell to No. 7, Five new teams joined the poll: 2-0 Hobbton, 2-0 Voyager Academy, 2-0 North Stanly, 2-0 South Davidson and 2-1 Manteo
▪ One new school joins the NCISAA poll: Charlotte Latin (1-1) is in at No. 5.
