Seven new teams join NC statewide high school baseball polls, and there’s a new No. 1

Seven new teams join the statewide high school baseball polls this week.

The rankings are sponsored by The Charlotte Observer and the News & Observer of Raleigh. They are compiled by longtime N.C. high school sports expert Alex Bass.

Two new teams join the 4A poll this week — unbeaten Lake Norman (6-0) and Fuquay-Varina (3-1) are in.

North Gaston joins the 3A poll, taking over the No. 1 spot in its debut.

Edenton’s Holmes High (4-1) joins the 2A poll.

There are two new teams in the 1A poll — Perquimans (4-1) and Hobgood Charter (2-0)

And North Raleigh Christian (6-0) joins the private school poll this week.
