Two new teams join The Observer’s Sweet 16 high school baseball poll this week.

The rankings are compiled by longtime N.C. high school sports expert Alex Bass, and consider NCHSAA and NCISAA teams in the following counties: Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln and Union.

This week, Covenant Day (9-1) and North Lincoln (5-5) join the rankings.

Covenant Day has won seven in a row since a 2-1 loss to Grace Christian on March 7. North Lincoln has won four in a row after a 1-5 start.
