Charlotte-area golfers dominate NCHSAA regionals Tuesday

Ardrey Kell’s Jack Pelletier and Neel Ladde shot 73s Tuesday, leading the Knights to a narrow victory over runner-up Charlotte Catholic in the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 4A West regional golf tournament.
Charlotte Catholic senior Will Hartman shot the only subpar round of the day at Brushy Mountain Golf Club in Taylorsville, firing a 3-under 69.
But the Cougars finished two strokes behind Ardrey Kell in the team race. Both of those teams, along with third-place Hough, qualified for the 4A State Golf Championship next Monday and Tuesday at Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 8.
Those three teams will be joined at Pinehurst by Marvin Ridge, which totaled an 8-under-par 280 and captured the 4A Midwest Regional. The Mavericks won the regional with a team of two freshman, a sophomore, and a senior.
Three other Charlotte-area teams won regional championships Monday and Tuesday — Stuart Cramer (3A West), Pine Lake Prep (2A West), and Christ the King (1A West).
State championship tournaments are next Monday and Tuesday. In addition to the 4A event at Pinehurst, the 3A tournament will be at Gates Four Club in Fayetteville; the 2A tournament at Pinehurst No. 6; and the 1A tournament at Longleaf Golf and Family Club in Southern Pines.
