Lake Norman Charter’s Madison Buffington is The Observer’s high school athlete of the week
Lake Norman Charter’s Madison Buffington is The Charlotte Observer’s final high school athlete of the week winner for the 2024-25 school year.
Buffington, a senior forward on the girls’ soccer team, scored two goals and had one assist in a 5-1 win over West Henderson in third round of the 3A state playoffs on May 19.
Buffington also scored a goal in a 2-1 victory over St. Stephen’s in the 3A quarterfinals on May 22.
Buffington has 29 goals and 15 assists for Lake Norman Charter (20-2-2), which was scheduled to play South Point in a NCHSAA 3A Western regional championship game Monday night.
