With the NC public and private school state championships complete, here are the final statewide high school baseball rankings.

Sponsored by The Charlotte Observer and the News & Observer of Raleigh, the rankings are compiled by longtime N.C. high school sports expert Alex Bass.

The top 4A team is TC Roberson, from Skyland. The Rams finished 27-6 and became the first NCHSAA 4A team to win three straight state championships last month. There are three new teams in the poll: Wilmington’s Ashley High, Durham’s Jordan High and Wilmington’s Laney High School. Laney, which lost in the state finals, is the alma mater of basketball great Michael Jordan.

NCHSAA 3A state champion North Lincoln heads the 3A poll. After starting the season 1-5, North Lincoln got hot and ended up beating Greenville’s Rose High in the state finals. Rose is No. 2 in a 3A poll that includes three new teams: North Davidson, Waynesville’s Tuscola High and East Lincoln.

In 2A, state champion East Rutherford leads a ranking with five new teams — South Lenoir, West Stanly, Midway, Lincoln Charter and Randleman.

In 1A, state champ Uwharrie Charter (20-12) finished atop the poll. In April, the Eagles suffered a three-game losing streak, but got hot after that, losing just once before the state championship best-of-three series with Perquimans. Perquimans is second in the final poll, which includes four new teams — Uwharrie, Cherryville, East Bladen and Eastern Randolph.

Finally, in the private school rankings, NCISAA 3A state champion Grace Christian finished No. 1, just ahead of 4A state champ Wesleyan Christian. Wesleyan is one of three new teams in the final ranking, along with Gaston Christian and Lawrence Academy, from Merry Hill, N.C.
