Which are the top high school football teams in NC? Check our latest polls

Eight new teams join the N.C. statewide high school football polls this week.

The statewide rankings are sponsored by The Charlotte Observer and News & Observer of Raleigh and are compiled by longtime N.C. high school expert Chris Hughes.

In addition to all the new teams, Robbinsville jumps to the No. 1 spot in the 1A rankings. Robbinsville (4-2) beat Andrews, 56-0, on Friday to win its third straight game.

In the private school poll, the top four spots are now covered by the four teams in the Big South conference, all from Charlotte: No. 1 Providence Day, followed by Charlotte Latin, Charlotte Christian and Charlotte Country Day.
