Myers Park High School mourns passing of senior baseball player Parker South
Myers Park High School senior William “Parker” South passed away Tuesday, the school announced via its social media pages Tuesday night.
South played on the Mustangs’ baseball team last season and was set to return next spring.
No other details were immediately available.
“It is with great sadness that we share that one of our students, William ‘Parker’ South, a Myers Park senior, died today,” the post read. “Our thoughts, prayers, and sympathies are with his family and friends. Parker is known by his friends for his loyalty, engaging personality, and loving spirit. He will be deeply missed by our school and in our extended community.”
Myers Park officials said the school’s wellness center would be open for students and staff to discuss the loss throughout the day and that counselors would be available Wednesday “and in the coming weeks to address students’ emotional needs and provide grief counseling.“
Myers Park’s football team will play against Chambers in a second-round NCHSAA 8A playoff game Friday night.
