Tuesday’s girls’ rewind: No. 11 Ardrey Kell holds off late rally from Weddington

Ardrey Kell got hot early and the Knights withstood a fourth quarter rally from Weddington to beat the Warriors, 46-37, in a non-conference game Tuesday.

The Knights (3-1) scored 16 of the game’s first 19 points against Weddington (2-2).

Autumn Washington had 15 points and Layla Mapp 10 to lead Ardrey Kell and Caroline Clark and Reilley Kennard had nine points apiece for Weddington.

Weddington was down 37-23 heading into the fourth quarter but made a big rally to get the lead to single digits.

Ginny Anne Dumont, Providence Day: In a 52-42 win over Sweet 16 No. 7 Queen’s Grant, Dumont had a game-high 23 points for No. 4 Providence Day.

Lanie Edwards, Charlotte Latin: Edwards had a game-high 19 points in a 58-19 win over Hickory Grove.

Camri Hobbs, Mallard Creek: A Western Carolina recruit, Hobbs had 13 points, six rebounds and four assists in a 61-40 win over Myers Park.

Ashanti Taylor, Porter Ridge: Taylor had a game-high 26 points in a 64-40 win over Charlotte Country Day.

Leanice Yearwood, Victory Christian: Yearwood had a season-high 18 points in a 74-34 win over Charlotte Christian.
