Ardrey Kell taps replacement for legendary volleyball coach Zoe Bell

Ardrey Kell High has named Abby Scott as its new head volleyball coach. Scott is leaving Cannon School.

Scott will replace Zoe Bell, who is resigning to become head coach at Marvin Ridge High in Union County.

Bell coached at Ardrey Kell for 17 years and is 809-218 overall at Ardrey Kell, Providence and Charlotte Latin. Her teams won 19 conference championships and five state titles in 36 seasons.

Scott was named The Observer’s 2023 volleyball coach of the year after leading Cannon School to the N.C. Independent Schools’ 4A state championship. That season, the Cougars beat then eight-time state champion North Raleigh Christian, 3-0, in the championship round.

In 11 seasons as a head coach, Scott is 189-56 and has won three state championships, and was runner-up twice.
