14 teams join NC boys’ basketball statewide rankings ahead of NCHSAA regionals

The NCHSAA high school boys’ basketball regionals begin Wednesday in Greenville and Hickory, and with two weeks remaining in the season, there are 14 new teams in the boys’ basketball statewide rankings.

The rankings are sponsored by The Charlotte Observer and the News & Observer of Raleigh. They are compiled by longtime N.C. high school basketball expert Rick Lewis, a co-host of The Charlotte Observer’s Talking Preps show.

Teams still alive in the playoffs will play in the regional championship games, or state semifinals, Wednesday through Saturday.

The state championships will be held March 11-14 at Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem.
