After slow start, Marvin Ridge joins Observer Sweet 16 baseball poll

After a slow start to the season, perennial N.C. high school baseball power Marvin Ridge is starting to find its footing.

This week, the Mavericks (4-4) enter The Observer’s Sweet 16 baseball poll.

Marvin Ridge is in at No. 15 after an 0-4 start to the season. Since the rough start, the Mavericks have won four of five games, including winning two of three against No. 7 Cuthbertson in a three-day stretch.

Elsewhere, Metrolina Christian (8-0) remains at No. 1 and Myers Park jumped two spots to No. 2.

The Sweet 16, compiled by longtime N.C. baseball expert Tripp Roakes, ranks the top teams in The Observer’s coverage area, which currently includes NCISAA and NCHSAA teams in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln and Union counties.
