15 new teams ranked in NC prep baseball. West Forsyth, Andrews take No. 1 spots

As the high school baseball season nears its first month of play, there are 15 new teams in the statewide N.C. rankings.

There are also two new No. 1 teams in the nine polls.

In 8A, West Forsyth jumped up two spots to No. 1 and previous No. 1 Laney dropped to third. And in 1A, unbeaten Andrews took over the spot. Andrews was No. 2 last week.

The polls, sponsored by The Charlotte Observer and the News & Observer of Raleigh, are compiled by longtime N.C. baseball expert Tripp Roakes.
