Three new No. 1s, 17 newcomers shake up NC statewide baseball polls

In this week’s N.C. statewide high school baseball polls, there are some pretty big changes:

1) There are three new No. 1 teams — Myers Park (8A), Cardinal Gibbons (7A) and North Lincoln (5A).

2) Overall, there are 17 new teams in the nine polls.

3) Of those new teams, the biggest changes came in the 5A poll, which has four new teams, and the 7A and 3A polls, which each have three new teams.

The rankings are compiled by longtime N.C. baseball expert Tripp Roakes and sponsored by The Charlotte Observer and the News & Observer of Raleigh.
