Marvin Ridge surges to No. 6 as Myers Park takes over Sweet 16 baseball top spot

Myers Park and Marvin Ridge made some big moves in The Observer’s Sweet 16 baseball poll this week.

First, Marvin Ridge.

Long a statewide power, the Mavericks started the season 0-3. But after a four-game win streak — which incldues a 9-3 win over previously unbeaten Metrolina Christian — Marvin Ridge has jumped up in this week’s rankings.

Marvin Ridge moved from No. 13 to No. 6. Metrolina Christian fell from No. 1 in the rankings to No. 3.

That allowed Myers Park (13-2) to take over the top spot. The Mustangs have won seven straight games and are averaging 9.7 runs per game.
