Cherryville, North Lincoln take No. 1 spots in latest NC baseball polls

There are eight new teams in the latest N.C. statewide high school baseball polls and two new No. 1 teams.

In the 2A poll, Cherryville (17-3) takes over the top spot. In 5A, North Lincoln (20-3) moves to No. 1.

The polls are compiled by longtime N.C. baseball expert Tripp Roakes.

The N.C. baseball playoffs begin May 5 and the pairings are expected to be released on May 4. The state championships are May 27-30 at the Burlington Athletic Stadium and the North Main Athletic Complex in Holly Springs.
