All-American Jacob Seamon headlines 2026 Charlotte Observer baseball all-star team

Metrolina Christian star Jacob Seamon, a projected 2027 first round Major League Baseball draft pick, headlines the 2026 Charlotte Observer all-star baseball team.

Selected as the N.C. Gatorade high school player of the year, Seamon led his team to the N.C. Independent Schools’ state championship round this season.

An LSU recruit, Seamon hit .538 and led the state with 13 home runs. He also had 30 extra base hits and 50 RBIs. He scored 61 runs, stole 31 bases and is ranked No. 2 nationally in the class of 2027 by Baseball America.

He also has a 4.55 GPA in the classroom.

“Jacob is the most talented player you’ll find in high school baseball,” said Metrolina Christian coach Darren Adams. “He has an incredible combination of power, speed and athleticism.”

The All-Observer coach of the year is Charlotte Christian’s Reid Fronk.

He led the Knights to the 2026 N.C. Independent Schools’ state title and a 28-7 overall record. After losing Game 1 of the best-of-3 championship series, the Knights rallied to beat Metrolina Christian twice in one day, including 8-5 in the deciding Game 3.

It was Charlotte Christian’s 18th state title, but its first in four years.

Fronk, a 2004 Charlotte Christian graduate who replaced legendary coach Greg Simmons in 2023, is 98-32 in his career.

First Team

P: Alex Hoffman, Charlotte Catholic, Sr.: Hoffman was 10-0 with a 1.23 ERA and struck out 88 batters in 57 innings. The Virginia Tech recruit ended his career with school-record 210 career strikeouts.

P: Russ Berger, Charlotte Christian, Sr.: A 6-5 all-state pick, Berger was 11-0 with a 2.01 ERA for the 4A private state champs. Teams hit .185 against him and he struck out 73 batters in 57 innings.

P: Michael Pitsiniagas, Providence: The N.C. 8A pitcher of the year, Pitsiniagas led the Panthers to their fourth N.C. state title. He was 10-0 this season with 76 strikeouts in 57 innings. He also had a 2.05 ERA.

C: Brady Marconi, Charlotte Catholic, Sr.: An all-state pick, Marconi hit .377 with 27 RBIs and 7 doubles. He had a .989 fielding average with just two errors all season. He’s signed to College of Charleston.

INF: Brock Bumgardner, Cherryville, Jr.: The Ironmen star hit .430 with six home runs, 15 doubles and 59 RBIs. Had .913 fielding percentage with four errors all season. He was also 10-3 pitching with a state finals shutout, plus 92 strikeouts in 56 innings with 2.61 ERA.

INF: Colby Epperly, Ardrey Kell, Sr.: The UNC-Pembroke recruit was an all-state pick who hit .600 with 5 home runs with 51 RBIs and was conference player of the year. Epperly holds school records for batting average, hits, RBIs, doubles (21) and on-base percentage (.630).

INF: Tucker Sigmon, North Lincoln, Sr.: Sigmon helped lead North Lincoln to back-to-back state championships last month. The third baseman had two RBIs in a best-of-3 series sweep over Seaforth. For the season, he hit .444 with 9 doubles, 5 home runs, 36 RBIs and he scored 39 runs. He also had 16 stolen bases.

INF: Max Wearing, Palisades, Sr.: Senior infielder was named all-state after hitting .493 with 7 home runs, 11 doubles and 27 RBIs. On defense, he had a .965 fielding average with just four errors in 24 games.

OF: Logan D’Amico, Marvin Ridge, Sr.: An American Baseball Coaches national all-region pick, D’Amico hit .436 with 13 home runs, which was No. 7 nationally and tied for No. 1 in North Carolina. He had 49 RBIs and six stolen bases.

OF: Jaxon Matthews, Hough, Sr.: All-state pick was named N.C. 8A state player of the year. He hit .475 with 7 home runs and 24 RBIs. He had an .660 on base average. Matthews, a Clemson commit, is a four-year all-conference selection and Greater Charlotte player of the year.

OF: Jacob Seamon, Metrolina Christian, Jr.: An LSU recruit, Seamon led the state with 13 home runs, plus 50 RBIs, 12 doubles and 5 triples. He had 31 stolen bases and an .845 fielding average.

U: Levi Kerr, Marvin Ridge, Soph: Pitcher/third baseman hit .378 with 31 RBIs and 9 stolen bases. He was 6-0 as a pitcher with a 1.46 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 47 innings for the 7A state champs.

U: Chase Kiker, Metrolina Christian, Sr.: A right-handed pitcher and infielder, Kiker was an all-state pick who hit .408 with 9 home runs, 10 doubles, 54 RBIs, stole 7 bases. As a pitcher, Kiker, a Clemson recruit, was 9-3 and struck out 104 batters in 58 innings. He had a 2.28 ERA. The 2024 Observer player of the year, Kiker makes All-Observer first team for the third straight season.
