Charlotte Observer High School Football Players of the Week
Chauncery Bowman, Mallard Creek: Senior tailback ran 28 times for 241 yards and two touchdowns as Mallard Creek, No. 1 in the Observer’s Sweet 16 poll, beat No. 2 Butler 24-10 at home.
Kingsley Ifedi, Vance: Junior QB threw for 440 yards and six touchdowns in his first start two weeks ago against West Meck. Friday, he was 19-for-27 for 382 yards and two scores against Providence.
DeAndre Staton, Monroe: Defensive lineman had 11 tackles, four tackles for a loss and three sacks in Monroe’s 36-14 win over Marvin Ridge Friday
Melvin Rouse, Charlotte Latin: In a 48-13 win over Northwood, Rouse had four rushes for 65 yards and a score; six catches for 114 yards and a score; a 59-yard punt return for a score; plus four tackles and three pass breakups.
Antonio Wallace, South Meck: 12-of-17 for 266 yards and four scores in a 35-10 win over East Mecklenburg.
