Senior running back Benny LeMay accounted for 238 yards offense and three touchdowns Friday night as No. 2 Butler knocked No. 6-ranked Hough from the unbeaten ranks 35-3.

LeMay scored on runs of 1 and 87 yards and caught a screen pass for a 52-yard touchdown. Teammate Clifton Duck scored the other Butler touchdowns, on a 38-yard pass from Davis Cheek and a 39-yard interception return.

Bulldogs coach Brian Hales said LeMay “does so much for this team. He is so strong.”

Despite totaling 409 yards offense, the Butler attack sputtered at times, and Hales called that “disappointing.” He praised the Bulldogs’ defense, which held Hough in check until the Huskies put together a lengthy drive late in the game. That drive ended with an incomplete pass in the end zone.

Butler defensive backs Brandon Brown and Aramis Algood each broke up potential Hough touchdown passes in the second half. The Bulldogs limited the Huskies to 15 yards’ rushing in the first half and 61 yards for the game.

Quote: “I’d like to jump up and down about this win, but I can’t. We’re still too inconsistent.” – Butler coach Brian Hales.

Records: Butler is 4-1. Hough is 4-1.

Worth mentioning: Hales said LeMay suggested the screen pass that went for a 52-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter … Hough quarterback Jackson Gibbs was under heavy pressure much of the night but completed 21 of 41 passes for 208 yards …Butler’s defense limited Hough running back Rashad Williams to 8 yards in 12 carries.

What's Next: Hough is home next Friday, opening conference play against Hopewell. Butler opens conference play at home next Friday against Garinger.
