Charlotte-Area High School Football Players of the Week

Aapri Washington, Mountain Island Charter: In a 48-14 win over Hickory Grove, Washington ran 16 times for 402 yards and four touchdowns, believed to be a Gaston County rushing record. He averaged 25 yards per carry, turning in one of the top 50 performances in N.C. High School Athletic Association history. Washington also had eight tackles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.

Cade Carney, Davidson Day: Ran for two touchdowns, caught a touchdown pass, scored on a punt return and threw a scoring pass in his team’s wild 38-36 win at Charlotte Latin. He accounted for 306 yards total offense. Teammate Garrett Groulx had 14 tackles and three sacks.

Austin Colonna, Marvin Ridge: 31-for-37 for 457 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Sun Valley.

Chazz Surratt, East Lincoln: In a 48-24 win over Newton-Conover, Surratt ran 23 times for 282 yards and two scores. He completed 15-of-22 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns.

Luke Miller, Lake Norman: caught six passes for 222 yards in a 40-38 win over Alexander Central. He caught the game-winning 45-yard scoring pass from QB Hayden Carlson with 2:11 left.
