Charlotte-Area High School Football Players of the Week
Elliot Beiser, Providence Day: Eight tackles, two pass breakups and two interceptions in a 14-8 win over Charlotte Country Day that sent the Chargers to Friday’s game at Charlotte Christian for a conference championship. Beiser’s second interception sealed the win.
Chazz Surratt, East Lincoln: Was 19-for-19 passing for 311 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-13 win over West Caldwell
Jordan Fehr, Providence: The outside linebacker led the Panthers to a win over Harding Friday. He had 14 solo tackles and 16 total, six of which were for losses. He had a forced fumble that led to a defensive touchdown, and he added an interception.
Benny LeMay, Butler: Nine carries for 171 yards and a school-record six touchdowns in a 76-7 win over Porter Ridge. He also had a touchdown receiving.
Bryan Digsby and Kusegi Cureton, Berry: Digsby was sacked eight times in a loss to Ardrey Kell Friday, but he still ran 13 times for 117 yards and completed 19-of-39 passes for 352 yards. He had six total touchdowns. Receiver Kusegi Curton had 216 yards receiving, second-most in school history and the 18th best single-game performance in Mecklenburg County history. His four receiving touchdowns are also a school record.
Cole Martin, Fort Mill Nation Ford: Was 33-for-59 with just one interception for 447 yards and four touchdowns against Sweet 16 No. 2 Rock Hill Northwestern Friday. Northwestern won 48-25 after outscoring Nation Ford 27-12 in the fourth quarter.
