Sweet 16 girls’ basketball countdown: No. 6 Hopewell

Girls No. 6 Hopewell Titans

Head Coach: Tyrelle Anderson (4th year as Hopewell coach)

2014-15 Notes: Finished 23-4, 13-1 in the MECKA 4A to win the title; Lost 3rd round of 4A playoffs to Ardrey Kell, 62-29.

Returning Starters: Ineesha Hankerson (5-10, F, Sr.); Erin Thames (5-6, G, Jr.); Kelsie Mills-Ruff (5-6, G, Jr.)

Key Returnees: Megan Sanders (5-4, G, Jr.); Shania Haynes (5-8, G, Sr.)

Key Newcomers: Fahjahnee Bradford (5-5, G, Jr.); Michaela Gibbons (5-11, F, Jr.); Lenzi Brown (5-10, F, Jr.)

Why Them?: Anderson believes this is one of the most talented teams in his decade-long tenure at Hopewell (head coach/assistant). With Hankerson (8.8 ppg, 7 rpg) leading a very balanced team that won 23 games last season, the expectations will be to repeat as conference champion and go deeper into the postseason.
