Gage Moloney, Rock Hill Northwestern: Ran for 73 yards and completed 24 of 39 passes for 408 yards and five touchdowns in a 50-6 win against Gaffney, S.C.
Chazz Surratt, East Lincoln: In a 49-9 victory over West Lincoln, Surratt completed 24 of 28 passes for 377 yards and five touchdowns. He rushed four times for 32 yards and a score. His 221 career touchdowns broke the N.C. mark of 216 set by former Independence quarterback Chris Leak 13 years ago. Leak phoned Surratt to congratulate him.
Cade Carney, Davidson Day: 300 total yards and three scores to help his team rally for a 29-22 win against Providence Day in the Division I private school state semifinals.
Travis Ramseur, Statesville: Passed for 178 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 127 yards and a score in a 37-34 upset of South Iredell.
Hayden Carlson, Lake Norman: In just more than three quarters of a 48-16 victory over North Lincoln, Carlson completed 20 of 35 passes for 393 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran eight times for 59 yards and three scores.
John Brannon, AJ Elam, South Mecklenburg: Had three interceptions and a touchdown catch in last week’s 51-24 win against Ardrey Kell. Completed 11 of 20 passes for 273 yards and four scores.
