Sweet 16 girls basketball countdown: No. 2 Myers Park
No. 2 Myers Park Mustangs
Head Coach: Barbara Nelson (fourth year as Myers Park head coach)
2014-15 Notes: Finished 29-1 overall and 12-0 in SW4A conference play to win the league title; won their second consecutive 4A state championship, beating Southeast Raleigh, 52-47, in title game.
Returning Starters: Chanin Scott (5-11, F, Sr.); McKenna Haire (5-10, G, Jr.)
Why Them?: The two-time defending 4A state champion have a new challenge without all-state players like Aliyah Mazyck and Rydeiah Rogers in the lineup. But Nelson and Co. – led by senior forward Chanin Scott (11 ppg, 10 rpg) and sophomore guard McKenna Haire – have been hard at work reloading a team that has the talent to win the SW4A conference and be a major factor in the 4A playoffs, again.
